G3- the journey

“G-3: The Journey” is a futuristic look at the extremes the world goes through to ensure the survival of the human race. In “G-3: The Journey,” a 10,000 person colony embarks on a voyage into space traveling to the nearest planet that possesses an environment most likely to sustain human life.  The book explores how “human nature” finds a way to exist even after painstaking efforts were used to recruit only volunteers born with at least 3 different racial backgrounds hoping to eliminate racial prejudice.

The storyline follows several families through their journey detailing the process of recruitment, deployment, and the development of their society during the voyage.  It defines specific, multiple, useful skill sets that each candidate must possess; how they establish an interim government to make critical decisions during their voyage; as well as deploying a small group of individuals every 25 years, who have the monumental task of establishing communication along these substations between the new planet and earth.  The book shares the sociological impact that the voyage creates: developing short-term relationships and fostering the mental toughness necessary to survive.

The working book title is “G-3: The Journey.” The title G-3 represents the life cycle of three generations.  It is estimated that it will take the life spans of three generations, before the colony will arrive at the new planet.  The 10,000 volunteers know from the beginning that they will never return to Earth and make this sacrifice not just for the Human Race, but also to guarantee the survival of their children and grandchildren who have yet to be born.
